The Roof Integrity and Warranty Issues

A primary concern of the facility owner is the effect of the PV system on the existing roof and any remaining roof warranties.  During the initial feasibility phase of the project, SOEC will determine the age, condition, capacity and structural integrity of the roof.  The PV system will be designed to have no negative effect on any existing warranty, and project operating insurance will provide further mitigation for the life of the system.

In general, damage to the roof or facilities is covered under commercial general liability insurance (CGL); functionally, the building owner’s insurer pay for a  property loss and then subrogates against the responsible party; the general contractor’s CGL will contemplate issues occurring during installation and testing/commissioning, and SOEC’s CGL covers insurable issues during operations.
